vAL
Corey Scott-Gilbert alias vAL wurde 1983 in Washington, D.C., geboren. Nach seinem Abschluss an der Baltimore School for the Arts und der Juilliard School wurde er Solist beim Ballett der Oper Lyon und erhielt 2009 den Princess Grace Award. Er war bei den 84. Academy Awards (2012) und bei Louis Vuitton-Shows (2021–2022) zu sehen. Nach seiner Mentorschaft durch Alonzo King und einer Knöchelverletzung schlug Scott-Gilbert den Weg eines unabhängigen, in Berlin ansässigen Künstlers ein, arbeitete mit Eszter Salamon, Sasha Waltz, Julian Rosefeldt und Ligia Lewis zusammen und entwickelte eine eigene kreative Identität in Form von „vAL“.
