Léonard Engel
LÉONARD ENGEL, geboren in Frankreich, ist ein Choreograf, Tänzer und Performer der zwischen Berlin und München lebt und arbeitet. Er begann seine Karriere als Balletttänzer beim Bayerischen Staatsballett, bevor er als freischaffender Künstler tätig wurde. Er hat u.a. mit Laurent Chétouane, Meg Stuart, Moriah Evans, Paula Rosolen, Gintersdorfer/Klaßen und dem Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch gearbeitet. Seine choreografische Arbeit konzentriert sich auf den Körper und die Veränderung seiner Wahrnehmung durch Bewegung, Kostüme und Seinszustände. Sein erstes Stück, Pavane, wurde 2019 im Rahmen der Tanztage Berlin in den Sophiensaelen uraufgeführt. Im selben Jahr folgte How to get rid of a body. A magic manual. Parotia, sein erstes Gruppenstück, entstand im November 2021. Derzeit beschäftigt er sich mit dem Thema Männlichkeit im Tanz und der "Entpatriarchalisierung" der Darstellung des männlichen Körpers auf der Bühne. Léonards Stücke wurden zum Hybrid Festival (Berlin), Soundance Festival (Berlin) und zum Rodeo Festival (München) eingeladen. Für seine choreografische Arbeit erhielt er Residenzen in der Tanzfabrik Berlin und bei PACT Zollverein (Essen, GE).
